Nekisha Douglas Obituary

REFLECTIONS:

1st John 5:11        And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

Psalms 48:14        For this God is our God for ever and ever, He will be our guide even to the end.

Revelation 21:4      He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed.

Nekisha LaShawn Nobles Douglas was born in Panama City, FL on Nov. 25, 1976, to Jan Wilson and the late Excell Nobles.

Nekisha has 3 sisters - Fatima, Nicole (her twin), and Elyce. Jan moved Nekisha and her sisters to Portland, OR in 1977 where she attended King Elementary, Ockley Green Middle School and Jefferson High School. During her high school years as a Demo, Nekisha began to work and proudly earn her own money. This strong work ethic continued throughout her life until the time she passed.

Nekisha was very active in school and began to thrive and grow during this time along with her sisters. She was on the drill team, in the STEP program and other activities. After graduation from Jefferson in the Class of 1995, she attended Grambling State University. While living in Portland, Nekisha, her mother and sisters attended Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church for 10 years until her mother met LeVoy Glass and they were married, which then added 2 more to their beautiful family circle because LeVoy was also raising his young son Maceo. Thereafter, LeVoy became Nekisha and her sisters’ father.

Then, Nekisha and her family attended Mallory Avenue Church of Christ, where they were all baptized into Christ. In 2001, the family moved to Greensboro, NC where they attended South English St. Church of Christ and Sharpe Road Church of Christ.

It was here in Greensboro Nekisha met her dear, loving husband Kenneth Jerome Douglas. They married on May 26, 2008. Out of this union came 3 handsome sons - Chase, Brice and Hollis Douglas. Kenny and the boys deeply loved and adored Nekisha. She was their QUEEN. She was very involved in her children’s education, sports and everyday lives. She was active in the local sports community and always encouraged her sons to attain excellence. She was a blessing to her husband as well. For enjoyment, Nekisha and her family often went on trips to Myrtle Beach, SC and she’d go on the road in the long-haul truck with Kenny and the boys to many other places.

As a daughter Nekisha, as well as her sisters, has never been a disappointment to her mother Jan, who feels truly blessed by God to be given the opportunity to raise her and see God mold and shape her into a beautiful, saved, loving, and caring woman in the Lord. We all will miss her. On Dec. 28, 2022, God called her home from labor to reward. Yet this is not the end, for we will see her again.

Nekisha is survived by her husband Kenneth Douglas, children Chase Douglas, Brice Douglas and Hollis Douglas, her father and mother LeVoy and Jan Glass, sisters Fatima Lambert, Nicole Nobles McNeil (Marta), Elyce Robinson (Troye), and brother LaVoy Maceo Glass.

Also, there are many family members left to mourn her including Nekisha’s brothers on her dad’s side Tyrone Rogers, Mario Nobles and Darius Nobles, uncles James Wilson (Angie) and Tommy Wilson, aunt Jenny Williams, nieces Kaylin Robinson, Trinity Robinson, Kyla Freeman and Greylyn Bell, and nephews Kishan Winston, Troye Robinson Jr., and Keith Robinson, as well as a host of cousins and a long list of friends.
