Mrs. Mary Warren Obituary

A life to honor. Ephesians 6, reminds us, it is the “first commandment with a promise— ‘so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth'” Honor your mother and be sweet her by offering her gracious words of thanks.

 

The Lord has called one of his daughter home, Deaconess, Mary H. Warren, 78, went home to glory on the early morning of Thursday, December 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. 

 

Mary was born December 12, 1944, in Summerfield, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John H. And Theresa Hayes, attended Laughlin High School and graduated from Dudley High School in 1963. She left her parent home and married her late husband Alvin L. Warren, they resided in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, together for forty-eight years, where together they stayed busy raising three children, to carry own their namesake- Terence L. Warren (son) Greensboro, NC, Theresa (Lynn) Warren-Johnson (daughter) of Spring Valley, CA and Timothy (Joey) Warren (wife) of Winston-Salem, NC.  12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 

 

Mary served with her husband for 48 yrs -Warrensville/Stokesdale Church of God, Stokesdale, NC and was a member of the Victory Center, Thomasville, NC. Over the years Mary held lots of jobs in helping to build the kingdom for being the co-founder of Feeding the Hungry, being part of the kitchen committee, trustee, usher, mother of the church, and a member of the Church Board. 

She loved her family deeply and her greatest joy was being a sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her spare time, Mary was a die-hard UNC Tarheel basketball fan and loved watching all of the teams on TV as well as tennis and going shopping. She was known for the beautiful pound cakes, peach cobbler, broccoli casserole and sweet potato pie and for having her Sunday meals prepared before attending church. Her favorite thing to do however was to spend time with her family.  

 

She worked at Burlington Industries now Precision Fabric for thirty-five years and as an entrepreneur, Mary created Sue Cleaning services.

 

The family takes solace that she will be reunited with her beloved parents John H. and Theresa Hayes, and Alvin Warren (husband) Oak Ridge NC of 48years, Garlin and Vivian Warren (in-laws),Stokesdale, NC,  and siblings  Inez (Frank) Clay (sister and brother in-law) Louisville, KY, James (Jimmy) Hayes (brother) Greensboro, NC, John Thomas  Hayes (Tom) (brother), Greensboro, NC, and Jermone Hayes (brother), Summerfield, NC and Eddie Smith (brother) Summerfield, NC and brother in-laws, Marvin Morehead, Greensboro, NC and Ronald Vines, Greensboro, NC and Steve Warren, Stokesdale, NC.

 

Mary was truly blessed. In addition to her children,  her siblings, Yvonne Vines of Greensboro, NC,  Billie Johnson (sister), Summerfield, NC and Jerry Hayes, of Whitmire, South Carolina and Raymond Featherstone (brother), Spain,  and Georgina Hayes, (sister in law)  and  Harvey(Clastine )Warren (brother and sister in-law) San Diego, CA, Norman(Helen) Warren(brother and sister-in law), Oak Ridge NC, Evone Warren(sister in-law) Oak Ridge, NC, and  Vera Carroll (sister in law) Charlotte, NC,  Lorraine (James) sister and brother in law), Stokesdale, NC, Donald (June)Warren, (brother and sister in law) Kernersville, NC, Gary Warren (brother in law) Winston Salem NC, and Keith Warren(brother in law), Winston Salem, NC  and innumerable aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. 

 

Though she will be deeply missed, she will always be in our hearts, honored and remembered well. 

 

Home going celebration will be conducted at St. Thomas Chapel Pentecost Holiness Church, Wednesday, December 22nd @ 6:00pm, and a private graveside service will be conducted on Friday, December 23rd, @11:00am Stokesdale Church of God Cometary. 

Public Viewing will be Wednesday from 12-5pm at the funeral home.
