Mrs. Marian C. Johnson was born to William and Minnie Crowder on January 28, 1958, in Pageland S.C. She was a wonderful addition and ray of sunshine to their family. She departed this life on September 28, 2023.
At an early age she united here at St. Stephen UCC where she played piano and keyboard for the choirs. She was educated in the Guilford County School Systems, graduating from James B. Dudley Senior High School in 1976.
After leaving high school, she moved her church membership to Garden of Prayer Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Michael A. King where she served in any roll where needed. She had a big heart and a deep capacity to show love as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Upon leaving Garden of Prayer, she united with W.O.R.D. Reformed Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor/Elder Keelan Atkinson. There she served as administrative assistant.
Finally, she united with Grace & Truth Christian Fellowship Church, under the leadership of Pastor/Elder Johnny L. Edwards, where she served as administrative assistant and lead missionary circle member.
She was married to the love of her life for more than 40 years, Deacon Leon Johnson.
She worked at many jobs and places in her lifetime and excelled in them, wherever she went. She worked as a switchboard operator at L. Richardson Hospital. But most notable were her clerical and administrative skills. She put those skills into action for more than 18 years at NC A&T State University Police Dept., until her health failed.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Deacon Leon Johnson, daughter Francine Lucas (Rev Patrick), step children Eric and Whitney Johnson, parents William Sr and Minnie Crowder, sisters, Julie Crowder, and Linda Parker, brother, William Crowder Jr (Theresa), one aunt, Shirley Crowder, grandchildren,, Elijah, Kenisha, Josiah, William, Minesha, and QT, 1 great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers, and church members.
