Mrs. Gertrude Lilly Sesley was born on January 3, 1950, along with her twin sister, Gladys Sharpe to the late Elliott and Annie Cathey Lilly in Greensboro, NC. She was educated in the Guilford County School System.
Following high school, Gertrude completed various employment assignments. She was employed by Cone mills, Four Seasons Town Center, Hester’s Daycare, Guilford County Schools, to name a few.
Gertrude was a faithful member of Word of Life Pentecostal Church of Christ until her departure. She worked diligently as an intercessory prayer partner and switchboard operator. Even as she went through the journey of her illness, she never gave up or ceased to give thanks and praise to the Lord for His goodness and grace. She was always jovial and full of fun and laughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cornelius and Willie James Lilly, and a sister, Maxine L. Nichols.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Norman Sesley, Jr. (April); four grandchildren, Breon, Denzel, Aliyah and Sterling Sesley; ten great grandchildren; five sisters, Odessa McNeill, Magdalene Hall (David), Gladys Sharpe, Eloise Watlington (Larry) and Shirley Chapman (Ernest); two brothers, Elliott Lilly, Jr. (Barbara) and Charles Lilly; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a special caregiver, Melissa Bryant.
