Terry Leon Bellamy, 70, of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born to the late Alston and Sarah Bellamy, Terry was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he excelled as a champion scholar-athlete in football and track, graduating with high honors in Political Science. He went on to earn his Master's in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University and completed additional studies at Pennsylvania State University, UNC Chapel Hill: Center for Creative Leadership, and George Washington University. An internationally respected public servant, Terry dedicated over forty years to public sector leadership across North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Texas, and Maryland, retiring in June 2021 as Director of Public Works and Transportation for Prince George's County, Maryland. Beyond his career, he was an avid golfer, a seasoned concert promoter with Diamond Life Concerts for over 30 years, and a proud Aggie.
Terry is survived by his devoted wife of forty-two years, Marcia Purvis; their children, Brandon and Kendra; his son Justin Bellamy; five grandchildren; siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alston and Sarah Bellamy. His life will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Final Services will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church 820 Ross Ave, Greensboro, NC 27406 at 11:00 AM — The Omega Memorial Service. This is a public ceremony. Visitation with family and friends will immediately follow. Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 PM.
