Stephen McLean “Weavie” Cooley was the son of Mr. Earl and Betty Cooley of Greensboro NC.
He was born on February 20, 1961, after a long and courageous battle with Illnesses he went home to be with his Lord and Savior with his family by his side on Thursday April 25, 2024.
Steve Graduated from Walter Hines Page High School class of 1979 continuing Higher Education he attended Rutledge College and achieved his Degree in Business Management Graduating in 1981.
He pursued his career in his field of education and accepted employment with Greensboro Hayes Taylor YMCA as the Office Administrative Assistant, he was a dedicated employee for 9-years, before retiring.
Steve took a short break from work, but it wasn't long until he accepted employment with Stamey’s Barbecue where he continued to work until his health began to decline.
During his retirement, he had to stay busy, he created & Co-Founded Inner-City Unity (ICU)Project with his brothers and a group of child-hood men, hosting fund raising drives, to assist families with financial hardships, feeding homeless families, adopting various families during the Christmas Holidays, donating food, clothes, and giving back to the community where he was born and raised.
Steve attended many services at Evangel Fellowship Church. He dedicated this life to Christ and made his decision to join the Evangel Fellowship Church Family; he was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his Father Earl Cooley Sr, Mother Betty Cooley, Brother Marvin Cooley, Sister Cathy Cooley, and special family friend/brother Harold White.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Cooley; sister, Sharon Singleton (James) of Greensboro; two brothers Ronald Cooley (Jeannette), and Earl Cooley Jr. (Helena); stepchildren, Richard, Lakia, Ne-Ne and Jasmine Mincey (Najee); nieces; Brandy (Dwayne), Tequitta, Shani (Brandon), Arneisha, Sharee; nephews, James (Dorell), Donald, Douglas, Earl III and a Host of Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Aunt Marva Cooley of Creedmoor, NC.
