Mr. Roland Robinson Obituary

Roland Robinson was born on January 17, 1947, in Samsung County, NC. He grew up a rambunctious and inquisitive child running behind the coattails of his grandmother Clara and his brothers and sisters, where he learned how to cook and bake.  After graduating from Dudley High School in 1965. Roland decided to go to the big city of Washington DC where he worked as a Nursing Assistant at The Lutheran Home for five years before joining JB Johnson Nursing Home, for over 30 years. Upon returning home to Greensboro NC and before retiring, Roland worked as a private duty nurse at Wells Spring Home Health Care Specialists.

Roland was a man with the gift of gab, he was a great storyteller. He kept our family history alive with his story's of times past. He was also known as "Preacher" because he would preach the word of God and has served as an Ordained Minister.  He loved the Lord, and he loved Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Roland loved singing and he loved cooking for his family and friends. He always combined the two while baking his cakes. cookies, and pies.  He was also known as "the cookie man". Roland had a love of travel. He ventured between DC, NC, and Florida to be with family and friends. The trip he cherished the most was New York City - Times Square, with his nieces Kim and Christy. He said “I have never walked so much in my life”. Roland loved the beach, and he loved the mountains. He was a happy man, you rarely saw him without a smile, and he met no strangers.

Roland loved his family so much and always expressed gratitude for everything his NC and Florida family had done for him.  He leaves behind his daughter Lola Maria (Jojo), his brothers, Hawk Bradley (Vanetta), Eric Bradley, and Ledelle Bradley, his sisters Lisa McDonald (Tony) and Nancy Gainey, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and so many special family and friends. The thing you could always depend on with Roland was that he always ended a text or call with "I love you".  He always said, "let people know that you love them because you never know when it will be the last time you talk to them."
