Robert Nicholas Sims, entered this world on August 18, 1999, and into the loving arms of his foster parents, Bill and Lois Boyer in Raleigh, NC. After living with them for a year, he became the first child of Edward and Kathy Sims of Greensboro, NC. Nicholas departed this life on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, after a brief illness.
Even from an early age, Nicholas loved performing! Whenever and WHEREVER the feeling hit, he would burst into song and dance! Although sickle cell disease limited his athletics, he enjoyed playing soccer with McLeansville Sports Association, earning the Sean Harrelson Sportsman Award in 2007, and participating in shotput for the Northwest track team. But his happy places were chorus and theater. The school’s chorus and theater teachers, Mr. Ward and Mrs. (Cockman) Turner, saw in him what his family already knew – Nich loved acting and singing. On stage he was free to express himself and loved every second of that. Nicholas was full of life, loved others with his whole heart, and tried to be a friend to anyone who needed support.
Predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Ruby Smith, aunt Joan S. Thompson and uncle, Frederick Smith, along with his paternal grandparents, Sr. Master Sergeant Robert and Marie A. Sims, Nicholas leaves to honor his memory: his parents, Turk and Kathy Sims; his brother and sister, Sean and Marrie; uncle, Steven (Lillian) Sims; cousins, Steve Sims, Thomas Moore, Naadira and Carolynne Rivera, Cantrece, Courtney and Cori Thompson; beloved godmothers, Wanda Legrand, Katrina Everette-Bennett and Gayle Lyke; and an unending list of friends.
