James Singleton, age 66 of Greensboro North Carolina passed away on Sunday November 26th,2023 in the comfort of his home.
James, also known as “Big Jimmy,” was born on October 28th, 1957, in Greensboro North Carolina to the late Edna Lawhorn and the late Johnny Singleton. James attended Grimsley High School and became a roofer and floor tech for over 18 years. He was also employed with Proctor and Gamble for many years. No matter what job he did, he was always a hard-working dedicated employee. James met the love of his life Sharon Cooley and the two eventually had their only son who inherited his name. The two spent many years together before they were happily married on March 15,2002, totaling over 40 years of companionship.
James was preceded by his Mother Edna Lawhorn (Richard Lawhorn), his father Johnny Singleton, his brother Cletus Jordan and Sister Doris McNeil, mother-in-law Bety Jean Cooley, brother-in-law Marvin Jerome Cooley.
He was survived by his wife Sharon Anita Singleton; son James Antoine Cooley (wife Dorell K. Edwards Cooley); brother, Darrell Mcneil; sister-in-law, Brenda Jordan (wife of the late Cletus Jordan); nephew, Travis Jordan; niece, Ladonna Marn; cousins, Janice Hearns and Lamont Shaw; brother-in-law, Earl Cooley Jr (wife Helena Cooley), Ronald Cooley (wife Jeanete Cooley) and Steve Cooley (wife Sandra Cooley), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James had a comedic personality, was street smart as well as book smart. He enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, Sports, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. To know him was to love him. He will truly be missed by everyone who knows him.
