Mr. Chester Lewis

Mr. Chester Sylvester Lewis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Chester Sylvester Lewis, son of the late John Lewis and Edna Burke, was born on August 9th, 1950, in St. Andrews, Jamaica. He immigrated to the United States and successfully developed his own business, Lewis Construction, refurbishing residential and commercial properties. His skills expanded beyond construction. Chester was also a fantastic cook, creating some of the finest Jamaican cuisines. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Emetrude (Claire) Lewis; two biological children LaShonda and April Lewis; two bonus children, Dr. Alexia Bailey-Webb, and Dewayne Wilson; seven grandchildren, siblings; and a house of nieces and nephews. Chester was a kind and humorous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Woodard Broadnax Funeral Service.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:00 PM at the funeral home. 

Public viewing will take place on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 10:00-5:00 PM.
